A cabinet for medicines is a lockable cabinet for storing medicinal products and medical supplies in a clinical room. VVN CMI cabinets are metal cabinets with tempered glass doors, designed for equipping doctors’ surgeries, pharmacies, laboratories and other medical rooms. They are institutional storage cabinets, not household medicine cabinets, and come in several sizes and versions.
Floor-standing models CMI1–CMI3 are 1800 mm high and 600 mm, 800 mm or 1000 mm wide; all cabinets are 435 mm deep. Choose the width according to the available wall and the volume of packaging you store. Glass shelves can be repositioned every 25 mm, so packs of different heights fit in one cabinet.
Tempered glass doors let staff see stock without opening the cabinet. VVN CMI4 and CMI9 have a lockable compartment without glazed doors in the lower part, while CMI5 and CMI10 also have glazed cabinet sides.
VVN states that the door handle is fitted with a lock that secures the doors at two points. VVN CMI12 has a magnetic lock. Lock design for the compartment (CMI4, CMI9) and for the sliding doors (CMI13, CMI14).
VVN CMI1–CMI5 are floor-standing, CMI6–CMI10 are 1900 mm high cabinets on castors, and CMI12–CMI14 are wall-mounted cabinets (500 mm high, 250 mm deep). The castors are antistatic, do not leave marks on the floor, and two of them have brakes. CMI11 is a 140 mm base for cabinets made of square steel profile with height-adjustable feet.
The cabinets are made of metal that can be cleaned with standard disinfectants; compatibility with specific agents and the coating type. A metal surface does not absorb liquids.

The standard palette for cabinets for medicines has 16 RAL shades. If the standard sizes do not fit, VVN engineers can develop a solution to your specification. Versions on castors and in acid-resistant steel are also available.
The storage of medicines in medical treatment institutions in Latvia is governed by Cabinet Regulation No. 220 of 27 March 2007 on the purchase, storage, use, accounting and destruction of medicinal products in medical treatment institutions and social care institutions (title translated informally; the official text is in Latvian). In the published text, psychotropic medicines and medicines classed as narcotic analgesics must be kept in lockable cabinets separately from other medicines (clause 42); narcotic medicines in a safe or metal cabinet fitted with a sound or light alarm (clause 43); and units keep no more than five days’ consumption (clause 45).
